The company is realizing a new project entitled P.S. Portrait Series, inspired by the concept of portraits by Francisco Goya. Main Goya’s guide in realization of portraits was the human side of his model, the truth of his story and not a construction of an ideal beauty, an ideal gesture or spirit.
“The fantasy without reason creates impossible monsters, together with reason it is the mother of the arts and an origin of wonders”. Francisco Goya
Starting at this point Simone has decided to create a series of “Portraits” and not “Solos”; where the dancer/actor and his story, his past, future aspirations and dreams are the fountain of inspiration. No role, and no character is to be performed apart the performer himself.
In 2010 Simone has been working with a member of DEJA DONNE Martina La Ragione in Italy and with members of the Bavarian State Ballet Norbert Graf and Isabelle Severs in Munich, Germany.
is a dancer of DEJA DONNE 2008 production A Glimpse of Hope. Due to her exceptional performing abilities she has been chosen by Simone for a Portrait to be realised in 2010 as a part of the project P.S. Portrait Series. It is her life to be told in the performance, starting from its first moments. Simone has been developing a wide list of questions, and based on Martina’s replies and further discussions with her he has written texts and developed the dramaturgical line, made of dance, texts and soundtrack of songs connected to Martina’s childhood and youth. As any work of DEJA DONNE this performance is personal, full of humour and irony, where the crucial moments of Martina’s childhood are told with lightness, smile and humanity.
“I am Martina La Ragione. I know how to turn the tongue, make a horn with my left feet toes, turn my eyes and move each of them independently at the same time, I know how to do a bubble with my saliva. I have never used stimulant substances, I have never been arrested, I am not married and I am not a rock star… I didn’t reach to be a figure-skater, I never succeeded to enter the University, to play a piano, and to become an osteopath… I dance…"
